A brief review of two films to be screened this weekend at the Film Festival in New Hope
"Director's Cut" (Saturday 11:45): A feature film, "Director's Cut" tells the story of the efforts of College Dropout Cassie Thompson to create an independent film. This may seem a simple business, but when the film question is written by his friend sometimes irrational and centers around a zombie vampire pirate queen, nothing is as simple as it should be.
My fellow panelists were surprised by the climax of the function, which did not end with the pictures (like the most cynical members of our group had planned). A lively cast provides an entertaining 90 minutes. The audience will certainly relate to Cassie, but not so much that they feel guilty for laughing as the crew face a setback after another.
