Plug in Presto’s PopLite and the party begins. In less than 2-1/2 minutes you’ll have up to 18 cups--two large bowlfuls--of fluffy popcorn with virtually no unpopped kernels. And because the machine uses hot air instead of oil, the resulting snack is healthier and lower in calories. That’s not to say you can’t add butter; in fact, the 1/2-cup measuring cup on top of the popper doubles as a butter melter. Simply put in the desired amount of margarine or butter (room temperature is best), and it melts from the heat produced during the popping process. The clear plastic cover and cup, which must stay on during popping so the popped corn doesn’t fly all over the room, easily remove for hand cleaning with warm, soapy water. No other clean-up is required. While a few unpopped kernels spring out the chute as the machine begins to heats up, the chute does a good job of directing the popped corn into a bowl. The popper measures 14 by 9 by 6-1/2 inches, and is identical to Presto’s Orville Redenbacher Hot Air Corn Popper except for color and logo. Presto covers the PopLite with a two-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

A plastic replica of the familiar, old-fashioned, street-corner popcorn stand, this delightful tabletop-size electric popper not only pops corn but also props up the spirits of everyone in sight--or within aroma range. Because it employs hot air instead of oil, the popper produces a healthful, low-fat snack. With a capacity of 3-1/2 ounces of kernels, the popper pops enough corn in its chamber to please a family, several dorm roommates, or an office crowd--and sends it cascading through a chute into a waiting bowl. A measuring cap ensures the proper amount of kernels is poured into the top before the unit is turned on. After one batch is made, the popper must cool for 15 minutes before another is begun. The popper measures 16-3/4 inches high, 7-1/4 inches wide, and 9-1/2 inches deep and carries a 90-day warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Face it, sometimes the best thing about going out to a movie is the popcorn, those big plump kernels that always seem so much better than what you pop at home. But this simple stovetop popper changes all that. It really does make awesome, fresh-popped corn that might make you start renting videos instead. The sturdy aluminum pan has a clip-on lid with a stay-cool wooden handle. A turn crank on the handle spins the key element: the stainless steel stirring system that keeps the corn moving across the bottom of the pan, for even heat and oil distribution, ensuring the best popping results. The lid has steam vents, to help keep the popcorn dry and crisp. The enclosed booklet is a wonderful resource, with not only clear and detailed instructions, but also dozens of recipes and popcorn history and lore. These are folks who really do know their popcorn, and the results are outstanding. --Cynthia Nims

This is probably the first toy that (no pun intended) pops into your mind when you hear the name Fisher-Price. Maybe this will jar your memory: the Push Toy Corn Popper has a long, blue handle (well, "long" if you're 3 years old), and rolls along on two brightly colored red/orange wheels while making great popping sounds as it bounces brightly colored balls inside a clear plastic bubble that's mounted above the wheels. So much for the technical specifications. There must be some unwritten law that every toddler has to have one of these. And with good reason. They're still fun! --Chris Livesay

Popcorn popper fever
26.06.11
If you establish a preference for a particular model, you are going to be a loan or feeling sorry for yourself for the rest of your miserable life.
Car Fever is a nightmare especially if your spouse, he and you do not. I have to believe the devil smiles when it happens.
Unfortunately, this is what is happening now in the household Hayter. I have a fever and Kay 98.6. Maybe a little lower. It's not the fever of my car, though. What I have a fever popcorn. A couple of you guessed.

Product Review: Stove-top Popcorn Maker | PreppingToSurvive.com
by Laura
Last Christmas, I purchased a stainless steel stove-top (old-timey) popcorn popper from Lehman’s . It had gotten good marks from other buyers in their comments section, so despite the price tag, I bought one as a family gift.

Not Your Microwave Popcorn
This was hands-down one of the best things we’ve ever gotten. Not only does the popcorn taste so much better than the chemical-laden stuff you zap in the microwave, it’s much more frugal in the long run. Plain popcorn kernels are far less expensive.
