Sized to fit most microwave ovens, including compacts, this popcorn maker pops virtually every kernel of 3 quarts of popcorn in about 2-1/2 minutes. And it works with or without oil and/or salt. That means no more of the unpopped, scorched kernels typically left behind when popping bagged corn.

The popcorn maker uses two innovations that concentrate microwave radiation onto the popcorn. First is a removable base that locks onto the transparent bowl. Second is a disposable paper cup that fits into the bowl's bottom. A package of eight cups accompanies the unit, and others can be purchased separately--each is good for about 12 batches when used with oil or 24 without oil. Both bowl and lid are dishwasher-safe. The popcorn maker is 9-3/4 inches in diameter and 6 inches high and carries a two-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack Read more...

Made of gemstone, an unbreakable, chip-proof cookware material, the Nordic Ware corn popper efficiently transmits microwave energy directly to the popcorn kernels, popping them quickly without oil. It produces the results of a hot-air popper without an additional appliance. This oil-free method is refreshing when compared to bagged corn, because you don't have to contend with grease, salt, and artificial flavoring unless you dress the corn yourself after cooking. However, take care to monitor the progress of corn during the first use. The manufacturer lists a three-to-five-minute cook time for 1/2 cup of unpopped kernels, but as microwave ovens vary, it could take considerably less time to pop. And overcooked corn burns fast using this method. Luckily, the base and lid are designed not to warp or melt, so burned kernels won't damage them. Use this versatile popper for cooking, storing, and serving popcorn and other snacks. The popper base is also ovenproof. --Carol Gnojewski Read more...

Because of all the oil, salt, butter and seasonings, I have no idea how good homemade-popcorn is for your health. What I can tell you is that there are some ingredients listed on a bag of microwave popcorn that I can neither spell nor pronounce.

The suggested cooking times differ, sometimes significantly, so experiment with your microwave oven. I'm generally not fond of products that do just one thing — my coffee maker enthusiastically excepted — but our microwave popcorn maker has pretty

At the start, Osborne delivered popcorn from the factory to 200 customers across southern Michigan. “A lot of drunks depended on me,” he said. Then microwave popcorn came along and nearly killed the business. When the factory was set to close 14 years

Pop Culture: Bowl of popcorn features popcorn, bowl

New on the front of snack foods, Orville Redenbacher Pop Up Bowl.

Do we really need to make popcorn any more practice? Jiffy Pop came first, then the passion popper air bags and microwave.

Now, after you pop the corn without doing any work, it appears in a bowl. No need to empty the contents into a bowl more real.

Then someone will genetically modify the plant popcorn so it hits the mud completely broke, with a mini-pot of butter to seal.

For me, a bowl is not good anyway. Thirty percent of popcorn is going to end up in my lap, on the ground or in crevices of the couch. What I need is the popcorn in the microwave that comes with a hand vac. Preferably disposable.

Catamount Glass Microwave Popcorn Popper (Giveaway) | SafeMama.com

We wrote here before about microwave popcorn .  I know, I know… always the bearer of bad news. I’m settled in my role of letting you know things that cause you cancer.  I’ll gladly be the messenger that everyone wants to shoot. Anyway, as we wrote back in 2008 (wow time flies), microwave popcorn is many things besides delicious.  The liner of microwave popcorn bags are lined with a coating that is known to break down into a substance known as PFOA , or perfluorooctanoic. (Say it with me… greeeeeat .)  This was a blow for me.  I love my nightly popcorn ritual.
