After putting the ice cream mix and ice in the tank, I gave it to my family to move. My little son, Anthony, first tried kicking. But it is too heavy - about 9 pounds when full of ice cream. Then (almost too late), I looked at the instructions and saw the warning not to run or throw it hard, because the ball could break. (So could your toe.)

After about 20 minutes of driving, I opened the box to look. The cream was freezing around the walls of the cartridge, but still soft in the middle. I moved the directions suggested, and close the cartridge.We rolled and shook it around for about 15 minutes more, until the consistency of soft ice cream. We could have waited longer to see if it hardens again, but everyone was eager to try it. It was good, but more like a milkshake with ice cream. This is a downside to homemade ice cream: it usually needs to set up in the freezer for a while if you want it firm enough to scoop.
